The Sunapee Community CoffeeHouse will host two holiday concerts this December. Both shows are back this season by popular demand: Kathy Lowe and friends will perform on Friday, December 7, and Ken Bonfield and Kristen Miller will present a Soulful Strings Holiday Concert on Friday, December 14. The music start at 7 p.m. at the Lake Sunapee United Methodist Church, Lower Main Street.
The Christmas/Solstice concert on December 7 will include Lowe’s original carols from her CD “Wishing you Peace” and an impressive lineup of New Hampshire musicians: Kent Allyn, Steve Schuch, Gwen Dunn, Julie Cory, Jimmy Spheres, Greg Gutgsell and George Beaton.
“Last December, her concert was a resounding success,” said Randy Richards. “It’s expected to be a repeat performance this season. Songbooks will be passed out for audience members to sing along with both traditional and original seasonal songs.”
Bonfield on guitar and Miller on cello performed their holiday show in 2011 to joy-filled audiences around New England. On December 14, the duo will return to Sunapee for a second season and will share their musical artistry in the form of new music and old favorites.
“We are overjoyed to bring our holiday concert back to new Hampshire,” says Miller, a classically trained cellist who has been pushing the boundaries of the instrument for the past eight years with her rich, multi-layered trademark style. “The sound of cello and guitar together is truly inspirational. I’m surprised there hasn’t been more music written for that combination!”
The Sunapee Community Coffeehouse is an all-volunteer effort providing a listening room for professional and amateur musicians and appreciative audiences. There is no cover charge; the Coffeehouse passes the hat for the musicians and to help cover venue expenses.
