The Sunapee Community CoffeeHouse hosts music on April 13 and 27 this month. On the 13th, former Coffee House president Richard King accompanied by vocalist Jan Rosen perform old-time songs and contemporary folk.
On the last Friday of the month, April 27, open mic invites to the stage performers of all levels — inspired first timers to seasoned professionals.
Time: 7 to 9 p.m. Location: Sunapee Methodist Church, Lower Main Street. Cost: No cover charge. The CoffeeHouse passes the hat for the musicians.
Tom Daniels, a volunteer helping with communication for the CoffeeHouse, explains why, in part, the group got started.
“We love our open mics and the people it supports. The atmosphere can be magical. You’ll be amazed by the supportive atmosphere.”
Helpful hints for open mic:
- Sign up on site, no pre-registration required.
- Arrive at 6:45 to get your performance slot (15 minutes or time for three songs).
- Although allowed, the CoffeeHouse discourages singing with recorded music. Preferred: Find some to accompany you.
“Live music is what we’re about. If you need some help or ideas let us know,” Daniels added.
