Sunapee School District: On the bulletin board

Sunapee student is N.H. Geographic Bee semifinalist

Connor Fleury, a 7th-grader at Sunapee Middle High School, is a semi-finalist in the 2012 New Hampshire National Geographic Bee that will be held at Keene State College, on Friday, March 30. Bees were held in schools with fourth- through eighth-grade students throughout the state to determine each school’s Geographic Bee winner.  School-level winners then took a qualifying test, which they submitted to the National Geographic Society.

SPTO’s Children’s Clothing Sale accepting books

The Sunapee Parent Teacher Organization is now collecting gently used children’s clothing and children’s books for a fundraising sale at the Sherburne Gym on Saturday, April 14. Collection boxes are at the Sherburne Gym.

“The goal is to provide each Sunapee Central Elementary School student with two to three appropriate reading level books for the summer.  Passing along the books and the clothing sale also support ‘green’ initiatives, reuse and recycle!” said Sharon Thielicke.

Proceeds from the sale will go toward interactive learning provided by the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center. See the event poster/read more.

Jodi Bergen selected new SCEC principal

For several years prior to becoming the assistant principal, she worked as a computer and classroom teacher at the same school. She also has taught at the elementary level in Virginia and Maryland.
