As of Friday afternoon March 12, approximately 3300 Fairpoint Communications customers in the Sunapee NH area have no phone service. Sunapee News lost phone service mid-morning.

“Here’s what we know at this time: We were testing alarms in our Central Office in Sunapee and lost power to the switch,” said a Fairpoint spokesperson in an email to Sunapee News. “The switch is what routes calls to the right number, and as a result of the lost power, there is no dial tone at this time. We are working on the situation and hope to have it rectified as soon as possible. We estimate that this is impacting approximately 3300 customers. I will try to keep you updated and notify you when we restore the power.”
