Independent Film Series Starts in Sunapee Jan. 8

On Friday night, January 8, an independent film series will get underway in Sunapee.  For My Father, nominated for seven Israeli Academy Awards, is the first film to be shown. Eric Alterman, The Huffington Post, described the film as “Transcendent!… the most powerful and moving film I can ever remember seeing.” The screening location is the Sunapee Middle High School, North Road, in the music room. Time: 7 p.m. All showings are open to the public free of charge.

The series, funded by the Friends of Abbott Library and sponsored by the town library, continues on January 22 and February  5 and 19. The movies are award winning independent and foreign films selected by Film Movement, according to the library website, where one can find a listing and synopsis of each film scheduled. “All the films will be available for the loan from the library’s DVD collection following its screening,” said Library Director John Walden.
