Singer/Songwriter Kelly Ravin at Sunapee Community CoffeeHouse Jan. 8

Kelly Ravin will perform at the Sunapee Community CoffeeHouse on Friday, January 8 at 7 p.m.

The Sunapee Community CoffeeHouse resumes its winter-spring schedule in 2010…on Friday, January 8 with lyrical folk music performed by Kelly Ravin, the winner of Vermont’s Solarfest Singer/Songwriter Competition. In announcing Ravin as the winner last summer, the SolarFest recognized his “distinctive voice, his stunning guitar playing, and the witty nature of his compositions.”

To catch a preview and listen to some of Ravin’s music, visit www.myspace.com/kellyravin.

The CoffeeHouse has an impressive and full line-up this season with the customary open mic scheduled for the last Friday of the month on January 29.

On January 15, bluegrass musician Richard Hamilton performs. Check Hamilton MySpace page at www.myspace.com/fiddlinrichhamilton. Then, on Januray 22nd, Rick Redington will be at the coffeehouse. Redington and his group can be heard on the soundtrack of Ken Burns’ newest documentary. Enjoy Redington’s website at: www.rickredington.com.

Performances start at 7 p.m. each Friday at the Sunapee Community Methodist Church, in the meeting room, which coffeehouse organizers describe as “a great listening room… with good acoustics.” The evening’s emcee passes a hat for the musicians; there is no cover charge. Refreshments are available.

The performers, community volunteers and local sponsors make the CoffeeHouse possible. To learn more about how you can support the local music venue, check out its volunteer emcee page. Sponsorships, available for $25 a show, help pay for venue expenses. For the CoffeeHouse schedule, visit: www.sunapeecoffeehouse.org.
