Sunapee Celebrates the Magic of the Season Dec. 5

Sunapee will hold a holiday celebration—Sunapee Harbor Magic—on Saturday, December 5 from 1 to 6 p.m.

Celebrate the magic in our community by singing, having a hot cocoa and taking a hay ride, participating in a workshop, visiting Santa or by strolling through the harbor. We hope to see you there! – From the event poster

This year’s holiday event at the harbor will include Santa workshops, hay rides, a silent auction, and at 5 p.m. a “harbor lighting”  and “magical” surprise. Santa will visit at 3:30 p.m.

Santa’s workshops will be held at Pete’s Shed on River Road. Children will be decorating fresh baked gingerbread cookies  at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Participants are asked to sign up at Tattered Pages (at Sunapee Harbor), phone 603-763-2539; the cost is $5.

Also, at Pete’s Shed, local celebrities will read holiday stories and the Sunapee Seniors will have special treats after the readings that are scheduled for 1:30 p.m., 2 p.m and 2:30 p.m. Face painting, crafts and performances of magic will add to the magic…all at Pete’s Shed from 1 to 5 p.m.

At 2 p.m., the Sunapee Rec Department will hold a Looney Lunge into the the lake. Prizes will be awarded for best costume.

Throughout the afternoon, people are invited to drop off donations of goods for the Sunapee Food Pantry and Toys for Joy. Items needed are unwrapped toys and, for the Sunapee Food Pantry, canned pasta, canned meats, sugar, flour, powdered/canned milk, rice, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, canned tomatoes, and instant potatoes.

For more information including how one can contribute to the craft workshop and silent auction, contact Rhonda Gurney.

The event is sponsored by local volunteers and the Lake Sunapee Region Chamber of Commerce.
