Sinkhole Closes I-89 Northbound in Warner

Work continues around the clock to replace a failed drainage pipe and to reopen a section of Interstate 89 northbound in Warner that has been closed to traffic since Saturday evening. State Police closed I-89 northbound between Exit 7 and Exit 9 after a sinkhole was discovered. Northbound traffic on I-89 continues to be detoured off at Exit 7 and back on at Exit 9. Major excavation work has been necessary to replace a failed 30-inch drainage pipe, which was approximately 25 feet below the road surface, says a spokesperson for the NH Department of Transportation.  The affected northbound section of highway is expected to be repaired and reopened by late Tuesday, according to the DOT alert.
