Sunapee Harbor Music on the Green Starts June 24

Wednesday night music at the bandstand, Sunapee Harbor starts June 24, 7 to 9 p.m.

The 2009 season of Wednesday night music at the Ben Mere bandstand at Sunapee Harbor swings into song on June 24 (7 to 9 p.m.) with Bill Wightman and the Jazz on a Sunday Afternoon Ensemble including horn soloists Richard Gardzina and Jeff Hoyt. JOSA features Wightman on keys and vocals, Don Williams on bass and Tim Gilmore on percussions, with Gardzina on multiple saxes and Hoyt on trumpet. The group will play popular jazz, funk and blues favorites.

On July 1,  NOB (Nick’s Other Band), a classic rock n’ roll  six-piece dance band will play music from Motown to Van Morrison, from the B-52s to Los Lonely Boys. The band members are lead vocalist Dave Pilla, Nick Eaton (drums), Robin Bourbeau (bass), Chuck Will (keyboards), Eric Viandier (harmonica), Phil Goodnow (guitar, vocals) and Keith Barrett (lead
guitar, vocals).

The entertainment continues on July 8 with Sferes & White.  That’s Jimmy Sferes on acoustic, resonator, electric, and lap steel guitars and vocals and Jennifer White on vocals and percussion. “Their music can cover everything from big band and jazz, to the acoustic rock and blues of Browne, Raitt, Clapton and the Allman’s,” according to the town announcement.  “They’ve performed on Garrison Keillor’s nationally syndicated program A Prairie Home Companion and should make for a great evening in Sunapee Harbor.”

Performing later in July and August: The Tammy Jackson Band (July 22), Upper Valley Community Band (July 29), East Bay Jazz Ensemble (August 5), The Squids (August 12), The Mary Maguire Band (August 19), and High Ground (August 26).

The town of Sunapee sponsors the Wednesday outdoor music program. It’s a long held tradition at the Ben Mere bandstand. To view and download the summer schedule, visit the town website.
