The 2009 Juried Regional Exhibit at the Library Arts Center in Newport is in its final week, it’s on display through this Thursday, May 21. The show highlights the work of 56 artists from New Hampshire and Vermont including eight artists that were chosen for next year’s Selection Exhibit.

Amongst those honored by jurors Robert Carsten and Rebekah Tolley was Tom Pirozzoli from Goshen for his oil paintings on canvas. Pirozzoli was chosen for the 2010 Selections Exhibit along with exhibitors Robert O’Brien, Perkinsville, VT – dry brush watercolor; Susan Lirakis, Sandwich, NH – photography; Betsy Derrik, Hanover, NH – oil on linen; Rebecca Gottesman, Norwich, VT – oil on canvas (see photo); Phyllis Hofman, Canterbury, NH – mixed medium sculpture (see photo); Judy Laliberte, Quechee, VT – watercolor on gessoed paper; and Sally Wellborn, Cornish, NH – mixed media collage.

The jurors also chose the artists for the show. Carsten is a contributing writer for Artists’ Magazine and the Pastel Journal and a popular workshop instructor. Printmaker and digital media artist Rebekah Tolley is currently an assistant professor and the gallery director at Colby-Sawyer College.  Each juror has an example of work hanging in the exhibit, as well.
