Sunapee votes in 1944 to preserve lake shore property

Sunapee, NH – Town Meeting

….Looking toward the future and at the same time meeting present day needs for the protection of the beauty of the town, the taxpayers of Sunapee voted to purchase the old Woodsum Steam Boat Wharf and adjacent land thereby preserving for the public an area of lake shore property…..[Argus Champion, March 14, 1944]

As reported, at the time, in the front-page Sunapee column in the Argus Champion, which is available on film at Richards Free Library, Newport, NH.

    is the only remaining green space on the lake in the harbor.
    Let’s work together to preserve the Lake Sunapee Green.
