The University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension and Lake Sunapee Bank are offering a three-part “Take Control of Your Money” series that starts Wednesday evening, May 11th at Lake Sunapee Bank, 9 Main Street, 1868 Room 3rd Floor, Newport. The seminars cover money and debt management and spending and savings plans. One can participate in one, two, or all three of the seminars. Gail Kennedy, UNH Extension Educator in Family & Consumer Resources, will teach the series.
The first seminar: Wednesday, May 11th (6:00-8:00 p.m.) will be Managing Money in Tough Times. This workshop offers strategies for individuals and families to use in setting priorities, distinguishing between needs and wants, and finding the money to increase savings and decrease debt- important steps towards achieving present and future financial security.
The second seminar: Wednesday, May 18th (6:00-8:00 p.m.)will be Debt Management Strategies. This session presented by Becky Palmer from GreenPath Debt Solutions, a non-profit credit counseling agency, will help consumers recognize debt warning signs and provide a range of debt management strategies. It will also feature tools to avoid financial pitfalls, offer guidance for finding a reputable agency for assistance and knowing what to expect when accessing services.
The third seminar: Wednesday, May 25th (6:00-8:00 p.m.) will be Developing a Spending/Savings Plan and will help you to develop a realistic spending and savings plan tailored to your situation and designed to reach your short and long-term goals.
