The Lake Sunapee Rock Bass Derby has become an annual event. It’s coming up on Saturday, August 8. The weigh-in will be held at Sunapee Harbor at 11 a.m. and there will be “lots of prizes” for participants, says Scott Blewitt, the Sunapee rec department director. “We have fun and earn prizes while controlling these pesky fish.” The town’s rec department is organizing the event.
“Last year over 2,000 rock bass were donated to the Squam Lake Science Center,” added Blewitt, who regularly sends out rec department news and announcements. The latest included details for the fishing derby. 1) No limit to team size. 2) Pre-register at Dewey Beach or contact the Sunapee Rec Dept. 3) You can fish all day starting at 6 a.m. 4) No cost to participate. 5) Fishing license required for those 16 years of age and older.
